DRDO Holds Workshop on High Energy and Special Materials

The Defence Research and Development Organisation’s  (DRDO)  High Energy Material Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune  is organizing the XVIII International Workshop on High Energy and Special Materials (HEMs-2023) in association with Tomsk State University & Federal Research & Production Centre, Russia on 2nd & 3rd November 2023 at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam DRDO Golden Jubilee Auditorium, Pashan, Pune. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Samir V Kamat, Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO.

HAL and Safran Aircraft Engines Sign MoU

HAL and Safran Aircraft Engines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop industrial cooperation in Ring forging manufacturing for commercial engines. HAL will produce LEAP (Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion, powering Airbus A320 Neo family and Boeing 737 Max) engine Forgings at its Foundry & Forge facility in Bengaluru as part of the MoU. MDL to Construct First Coast Guard Training Vessel

The Ministry of Defence signed a contract for the construction of one Training Ship for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL), Mumbai at a cost of Rs 310 crore under the Buy (Indian- IDDM) category in New Delhi on October 17, 2023. This is the first dedicated training platform with integral helicopter capabilities that will provide basic sea training to 70 Coast Guard and other international under-trainee officers to prepare these budding mariners on the multi-dimensional maritime aspects of Coast Guard life.

BEL hands over CBRN HAZMAT Vehicle to NDRF

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has designed and manufactured a customised Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN) HAZMAT (Hazardous Material) Vehicle in a record time for the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

At a ceremony held today (August 30, 2023) at BEL’s Pune Unit, which has designed and manufactured this Vehicle, Mr Atul Karwal, IPS, Director General, NDRF, and Mr Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, Chairman & Managing Director, BEL, flagged off the first of the CBRN HAZMAT Vehicles.

BEL-IAI Signs MoU on Short-Range Air Defence

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Israel’s leading aerospace and defence company, have inked an MoU for co-operation in addressing India’s requirements in the domain of Short Range Air Defence Systems.

The MoU was signed by Mr K V Suresh Kumar, Director (Marketing), BEL, and Mr Avi Elisha, VP and General Manager, Missile Systems Division, IAI, in the presence of Mr Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, CMD, BEL, in Bengaluru yesterday.  

Symposium on Self-Reliance in Missile Technology

The Missile Technology Conclave-cum-Symposium themed ‘Aatmanirbharta in Missile Repairs & Indigenisation Technologies (AMRIT-2023)’, was organised by INS Kalinga at Samudrika Auditorium, Naval Base, Visakhapatnam on 23 Aug 23. The event was inaugurated by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, AVSM, NM, Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command. Dr Y Srinivas Rao, DS, DG NS&M and Shri GA Srinivasa Murthy, DS, Director DRDL delivered special address during inaugural session.

HAL Gets Regional Office in Kuala Lumpur

Recognising defence exports as a key pillar of sustainable growth of the Indian defence industry, defence minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Regional Office of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 11, 2023. This Regional Office will facilitate close defence industrial collaboration between India and Malaysia. It will also serve as a hub for the HAL’s engagement with the wider South-East Asian region and act as a window for other Indian Defense PSUs.

BEL Receives Orders Worth Rs. 5900 Crore

Bharat Electronics Limited has received Orders worth Rs. 5900 Crore as of today in the financial year 2023-24. Akash is an all-weather, point/area air-defence weapon system intended for defending vulnerable points/areas against threats emanating from low, medium and high altitudes. The system uses high mobility vehicles for mobile application.

The improvements incorporated include high altitude operation, simultaneous engagement of multiple threats over 360 degrees, missiles fitted with RF Seeker and reduced foot print. 

BEL signs MoU with Emjay

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed an MoU with Emjay Control Systems Pvt Ltd to jointly manufacture and develop business for state-of-the-art, electro-mechanical bollards for use in various Defence, Homeland Security, Paramilitary and export projects.

The bollards are envisaged to safeguard vital installations by pre-empting unauthorised entry of heavy vehicles. They are built to withstand the impact of IED-laden vehicles weighing from 24,000-1,50,000 Kgs and coming in at alarming speeds from 80-100 Kmph.
