BEL wins IAF order for Akash Missile System

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a contract with the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, today, September 13, 2019, for procurement of Seven Squadrons of Akash Missile System for the Indian Air Force.

This is a turnkey contract with specialist infrastructure. The total value of the contract is Rs.5,357.00 Crores (Rupees five thousand three hundred and fifty-seven crores only) and the delivery will be completed in 3(three) years. These systems will be commissioned at seven Air Force locations spread across Pan India.

 

New air defence system for Delhi class

India, on Thursday, signed contract with Russia for up gradation of air defence capability of Delhi class Destroyers. The contract was signed between Ministry of Defence (MoD) and JSC Rosoboronexport, the Russian defence exporter, said a statement.

“The modernisation of Radar and Missile systems would substantially enhance the Air Defence capability of the P-15 Ships,” MoD said.

DRDO successfully flight-tests man-portable ATGM

In a major boost for Indian Army, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) today successfully flight tested indigenously developed low weight, fire and forget Man Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in the ranges of Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The missile was launched from a man portable Tripod launcher and the target was mimicking a functional tank.

Resurrection ceremony for 17 squadron 'Golden Arrows'

Today, a Resurrection ceremony for 17 Squadron, AF was held at Air Force Station Ambala. Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa PVSM AVSM YSM VM ADC Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Air Staff presented a memento to Group Captain Harkirat Singh SC to commemorate the occasion. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries from Indian Air Force and Indian Army.
