Rostec State Corporation will unveil its state-of-the-art high-mobility multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), Sarma. The weapons system will be premiered at World Defense Show 2026, an international defense and security exhibition to be held in Riyadh, as part of a display organized by Rosoboronexport (a company of Rostec).
The Sarma is mounted on an 8×8 all-wheel-drive chassis; with a 300 mm caliber, it is capable of effectively engaging a wide range of targets, including manpower, artillery, armored vehicles, enemy air defense systems, as well as other threats and military facilities.
“One of the distinguishing features of the new combat vehicle is its high mobility. It is capable of moving into the firing position within just three minutes and retreating within the same amount of time. The Sarma is equipped with an advanced automated guidance and fire control system. It can use both Smerch rockets, which have a proven track record, and state-of-the-art guided missiles for the Tornado-S. The MLRS can fire a complete salvo in just 18 seconds,” commented Bekhan Ozdoyev, Industrial Director of the Armaments, Ammunition and Special Chemicals Cluster of Rostec State Corporation, member of the Bureau of the Union of Machine Engineers of Russia.
The combat vehicle has a three-person crew. Furthermore, the crew can move the Sarma into position, conduct all preparatory operations and fire without leaving the cabin. The cabin itself is armored and provides the crew with protection against shell fragments and armor-piercing incendiary bullets. In addition, the vehicle can be controlled remotely from a shelter.
Unlike the Tornado-S and the Smerch, which have the same caliber, the Sarma features six launch tubes instead of 12, which significantly improves mobility while maintaining combat performance across key parameters. The combat vehicle can reach road speeds of up to 95 kilometers per hour and has a range of 1,000 kilometers.
World Defense Show 2026 is one of the largest international defense and security exhibitions; it will be held on February 8–12 in Riyadh.
Company will premiere a model of a state-of-the-art unmanned robotic marine rescue system, R-SAVER-1. The R-SAVER-1 civilian unmanned boat is designed to promptly deliver rescue equipment and special equipment to a maritime emergency site, such as a vessel in distress or offshore oil and gas production facilities. This solution will considerably speed up emergency response.
The unmanned boat is capable of delivering cargo across a distance of up to 800 kilometers at speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour. It can carry cargo weighing up to 600 kilograms.
Visitors to the exhibition will be shown the Pantsir family of surface-to-air missile systems designed to provide short-range protection for military and civilian facilities against modern and advanced airborne weapons. The company’s display features the Pantsir-S1M air defense missile and gun system, the Pantsir-ME naval air defense system, and the latest air defense system, Pantsir-SMD-E, designed to provide protection for industrial and administrative facilities. Visitors to the exhibition will also be shown the entire range of ground-to-air guided missiles designed for the system, including miniature missiles.
The Pantsir is the most popular air defense system worldwide with a proven track record of engaging even the most challenging targets. The Pantsir systems have repeatedly destroyed ATACMS missiles, have engaged low-observable Storm Shadow missiles and have been successful against AGM-88 HARM high-speed anti-radiation missiles.
In addition, the exhibition will feature the Verba man-portable air-defense system designed to destroy airplanes, helicopters, UAVs and cruise missiles. It remains effective even amid strong optical jamming.
