Maritime Information Sharing workshop 2019

A Maritime Information Sharing Workshop (MISW) is being hosted by the Indian Navy, under the aegis of the Information Fusion Centre – Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR), Gurugram. The workshop was inaugurated by Vice Admiral MS Pawar, the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff this morning. Over 41 delegates from 29 countries of the IOR and beyond are participating in the two-day event.

An-32 wreckage located

An An-32 of the Indian Air Force went missing on 03 Jun 2019 after getting airborne from Air Force Station, Jorhat Assam. The wreckage of the aircraft was spotted today 16 Kms North of Lipo, North East of Tato at an approximate elevation of 12000 ft by the IAF Mi-17 Helicopter undertaking search in the expanded search zone.

Efforts are now continuing to establish the status of occupants and establish survivors. Further details will be communicated as the recovery actions progress.

RM reviews operational and procurement matter

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh took a meeting of senior officers of   Ministry of Defence to review operational matters and procurement issues of the Armed Forces. He discussed important revenue procurement cases regarding maintenance of platforms and assets with the Armed Forces. He was briefed by the officers regarding ongoing infrastructure projects and plans for future upgradation.

RM reviews defence cooperation mechanism

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh reviewed activities of the Ministry of Defence. The RM was briefed regarding Defence Cooperation activities with Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs). He was also briefed about planning activities of the Armed Forces including Tri-Services agencies viz. HQ IDS and Defence Cyber Agency, Defence Space Agency and Armed Forces Special Forces Division which were approved by the CCS in 2019.

RM visits Siachen

In an epic event in the glorious history of Siachen Glacier, Honourable Raksha Mantri (RM) Shri Rajnath Singh made his maiden visit to the world’s highest battle field today. The RM accompanied by General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff  arrived at the Thoise air field and was received by Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, GOC-in-C, Northern Command.

Cyber, Space, SF agencies – not enough for future wars

National security is no more restricted to securing the physical boundaries and pursuing strategic interests but encompasses all aspects that have a bearing on the nation’s well-being. The capability development in land, sea and air will not suffice in future wars. The future threats are from air, land, sea, space and cyberspace. Winning a war requires integration across all five domains of warfighting.
