Government has appointed Lt Gen Manoj C Pande, presently Vice Chief of the Army Staff, as the next Chief of the Army Staff with effect from the afternoon of April 30, 2022. Born on May 06, 1962, Lt Gen Manoj C Pande was commissioned on December 24, 1982 in the Corps of Engineers (The Bombay Sappers) of the Indian Army. During his long and distinguished service spanning over 39 years, he has served in a variety of Command, Staff and Instructional appointments.

In 2022, the Obninsk Research and Production Enterprise “Technologiya” named after A.G. Romashin, a unit of Rosteс State Corporation, will increase output of products for the aerospace industry. Products for launch vehicles and spacecraft will account for the main part of the company’s output in 2022. These are head fairing shells, solar panel frames and thermal control panels. Indigenously developed helicopter launched Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘HELINA’ was successfully flight tested on April 11, 2022 at high-altitude ranges as part of user validation trials. The flight-test was jointly conducted by the teams of scientists from Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Army and Indian Air Force (IAF).

HAL to Train Nigerian Army Pilot on Chetak Helicopter

HAL signed a contract with Nigerian Army for imparting Phase-II flying training on Chetak Helicopter for six officers of Nigerian Army Aviation. This marks the continuation of contract signed in April 2021 for imparting Phase-I flying training to six Nigerian Army aviation officers, which was successfully executed in December 2021.

Rostec Reduces labour in Engine Blade Production

United Engine Corporation of Rostec has introduced unique technologies for the production of aircraft engine blades. Innovative developments enable production of parts of the most accurate shape, including large-sized ones, and also reduce labor costs and exclude manual labor from the production process.

The Rybinsk-based UEC-Saturn plant produces engine blades using a device for twisting high-precision titanium blades and a technology for hybrid stamping of blades from a two-phase titanium alloy.

Advanced version of Pinaka Tested

Pinaka Mk-I (Enhanced) Rocket System (EPRS) and Pinaka Area Denial Munition (ADM) rocket systems have been successfully flight-tested by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Army at Pokhran Firing Ranges. A total of 24 EPRS rockets were fired for different ranges during the last fortnight.
