ITI bags Indian Army's ASCON IV contract

In order to meet the long pending demand of the Indian Army the Cabinet Committee on Security, has approved the proposal for establishment of Army Static Switched Communication Network (ASCON) Phase IV Network to be implemented by M/s ITI, a Public Sector Undertaking, at an estimated cost of Rs. 7796.39 crore with an implementation schedule of 36 months from the date of signing of the contract. The contract has been signed with M/s ITI Ltd. on 01.10.2020.

Solar Group signs contract for one million grenade

In a much-needed boost to the ‘Make In India’ initiative in the defence sector, the Ministry of Defence today signed an agreement with Economics Explosive Ltd. (EEL), a division of Nagpur-based Solar Group, to supply 10 lakh modern hand grenades for the Indian Army. The deliveries of multi-mode hand grenades (MMHG) would be spread over two years and the total value of the capital contract is Rs 409 crores.

New Appointments in IAF

New Commander Eastern Air Command

Air Marshal Amit Dev took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Air Command, IAF on October 1. He was commissioned into Fighter Stream on December, 1982 as a Fighter Pilot and has a flying experience of more than 2500hrs on MiG 21 and MiG 27 fighter aircraft.

Prior to this appointment he was Air Officer-in-Charge, Personnel at Air HQ, New Delhi.

BrahMos with indigenous system flight tested

Massively bolstering India’s combat capability and enhancing national security, the BRAHMOS surface-to-surface supersonic cruise missile featuring an indigenous Booster and Airframe Section along with many other Made in India sub-systems was successfully test fired for designated range at 1030 hours today on September 30, 2020 from ITR, Balasore in Odisha.

The test firing was jointly conducted by DRDO and BrahMos Aerospace.

NAVAL INVESTITURE CEREMONY - 2020

The Naval Investiture Ceremony - 2020 for Western Naval Command (WNC) was held at INS Shikra on 30 Sep 20.  Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar , Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command presented gallantry and distinguished  service awards to recipients. The FOC-in-C (West) also presented Unit Citations  to selected Units for their contributions in the past year.

Boeing, General Atomic to partner in Missile defence bid

Boeing [NYSE: BA] is teaming with General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) and Aerojet Rocketdyne in its bid to build the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The NGI is a key element of the MDA’s missile defense system, which is designed to intercept and destroy incoming intercontinental ballistic missiles.
