Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retd) to be CDS

The Government has decided to appoint Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retired) PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM as the next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) who shall also function as Secretary to Government of India, Department of Military Affairs with effect from the date of his assumption of charge and until further orders. In a career spanning over nearly 40 years, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan had held several command, staff and instrumental appointments and had extensive experience in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir and North-East India.

BEL wins SIDM Champion Award

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has received the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) Champion Award 2022 under the category of “Technology & Product Innovation for Large Companies”.

The defence minister Rajnath Singh today presented the award to Mr L Ramakrishnan, Chief Scientist of BEL’s Central Research Laboratory (CRL)-Bangalore and Dr Ramesh Chaveli, Principal Scientist (CRL-Bangalore) at the awards ceremony organised in New Delhi.    

President Inaugurates HAL’s Cryogenic Engine Facility

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu inaugurated HAL’s Integrated Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing Facility (ICMF) here today and said it is not only a historic moment for HAL and ISRO but for the whole of India. “India is the sixth country in the world to have Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing capabilities. The glorious past of HAL and ISRO gives us an assurance that they will play a crucial role in the future”, she said.

Manoj New as Director (R&D), BEL

Manoj Jain took charge as the Director (R&D) of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on September 26, 2022. He was General Manager of the Electronic Warfare & Avionics SBU at BEL's Bangalore Complex prior to his elevation. 

Manoj Jain joined BEL in August 1991 as Probationary Engineer after completing his BE (Electronics) from REC Jaipur (MNIT) with Gold medal. In an illustrious career spanning over three decades, he has made significant contributions to the field of Research & Development.

Contract for Dual Use BrahMos

Providing further impetus to Aatmanirbharta in defence production, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) signed a contract today with M/s BrahMos Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. (BAPL) for acquisition of additional dual-role capable Surface to Surface BrahMos missiles at an overall approximate cost of  ₹ 1700 Crore under “Buy-Indian” Category.
