Russia Calls Slovakia’s MiG-29 Transfer to Kiev Illegal

At last, the Ukrainian demand for fighter jets to counter Russian air supremacy over their airspace seems to be getting fulfilled. On March 23, Bratislava transferred first of the 13 Soviet-era MiG-29, air superiority fighter jets to Ukraine. Russian government has called this as a violation of the term and condition between Russian Federation and Republic of Slovakia.

Boeing to Upgrade USAF KC-46A

Boeing will enhance the KC-46A advanced communications capabilities through a Block 1 upgrade under a $184 million contract awarded by the U.S. Air Force.

Upgrades include line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight communications technologies with antijamming and encryption features. These capabilities will further enhance the data and communications connectivity the KC-46A provides to joint and allied forces for battlespace situational awareness.

Navantia's S-81 submarine First Dive

The S-81 'Isaac Peral' submarine carried out its first static dive this Thursday as part of the test schedule agreed between Navantia, the Navy and the Ministry of Defence. The dive took place in the waters of the La Algameca naval station, opposite the Navy's Diving Centre. It forms part of the safety milestones in the construction and testing of the S-80 submarine programme and is carried out after surface navigation and prior to the dive.

First Belgium-Dutch Anti-Mine Vessel Launched

On 29 March 2023, the first of the twelve mine countermeasure vessels of the Belgian-Dutch rMCM programme, the M940 Oostende intended for the Belgian Navy, was floated out in Concarneau. The launching ceremony took place in the presence of Ludivine Dedonder, Belgian Minister of Defence, Kajsa Ollongren, Dutch Minister of Defence, and Patricia Mirallès, French Secretary of State for Veterans and Memory. During this day, Naval Group also laid the keel for the third of the twelve vessels, the M941 Tournai, intended for the Belgian Navy.

French SSN Duguay-Trouin, -2nd Barracuda-Class begin Sea Trial

The Duguay-Trouin is the second submarine of the Barracuda program, led by the French defense procurement agency (DGA) in partnership with the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy Commission (CEA) for the nuclear boilers part. This program intends to replace the Ruby-class SSNs currently in service within the French Navy. Naval Group is in charge of the production of these submarines, from their design to their construction, as well as the manufacture of the main components of the nuclear boilers which are developed and produced with TechnicAtome.

India will continue to work with African nations-RM

India will continue to work with African nations to promote regional security, foster stability and enhance the defence capabilities together. This was stated by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh during the first edition of India-Africa Army Chiefs’ Conclave organised on the sidelines of 2nd Africa-India Joint Exercise ‘AFINDEX’ in Pune, Maharashtra on March 28, 2023. The Conclave was attended by Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande and Chiefs & representatives of 31 African nations, along with other civil and defence dignitaries.

Army Chief Presents ‘President’s Standards’

General Manoj Pande, the Chief of Army Staff presented the prestigious ‘President’s Standards’ or ‘Nishan’ to four Armoured Regiments of the Indian Army, namely 49 Armoured Regiment, 51 Armoured Regiment, 53 Armoured Regiment and 54 Armoured Regiment during an impressive Standards Presentation Parade held at Suratgarh Military Station in Rajasthan on 25 March 2023. A large number of dignitaries and military veterans graced the occasion. The event witnessed an immaculate mounted parade by the four Armoured Regiments along with tanks in all grandeur.
