6th Scorpene Sub ' Vagsheer' Launched at MDL
Yard 11880, the sixth and last submarine of the Indian Navy’s Kalvari class submarines of Project 75 has been launched today at the Kanhoji Angre Wet Basin of Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL). Dr Ajay Kumar, Defence Secretary was the Chief Guest at the ceremony and the submarine named ‘Vagsheer’ was launched by Mrs Veena Ajay Kumar, in keeping with Naval traditions of launch/ naming by a lady.
RAFAEL to Conduct 1st Ever Live Demonstration of its ABS System
Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. will participate at the IT²EC Exhibition in London conducting a first-ever live demonstration of its sophisticated ABS System – a Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) solution which is also being unveiled for the first time at a global exhibition. In addition, RAFAEL will present its advanced air defence training and simulation tools, most notably the Air Defence Optimizer (ADO). Both the ABS System and the ADO have a long-standing operational legacy.
MoD uses 65.50 per cent of Capital Budget on domestic buy
Ministry of Defence (MoD) had earmarked 64 per cent of Capital Acquisition Budget for domestic industry in Financial Year (FY) 2021-22. At the end of FY 2021-22, MoD has been able to over achieve this target and has utilised 65.50 per cent of Capital Acquisition Budget on indigenous procurements through Indian Industry to achieve Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat'. Further, as per preliminary expenditure report of March 2022, MoD has been able to utilise 99.50 per cent of the Defence Services Budget in FY 2021-22.

Lt Gen Manoj C Pande Next Indian Army Chief
Government has appointed Lt Gen Manoj C Pande, presently Vice Chief of the Army Staff, as the next Chief of the Army Staff with effect from the afternoon of April 30, 2022. Born on May 06, 1962, Lt Gen Manoj C Pande was commissioned on December 24, 1982 in the Corps of Engineers (The Bombay Sappers) of the Indian Army. During his long and distinguished service spanning over 39 years, he has served in a variety of Command, Staff and Instructional appointments.

Rostec to increase component supplies for space industry
In 2022, the Obninsk Research and Production Enterprise “Technologiya” named after A.G. Romashin, a unit of Rosteс State Corporation, will increase output of products for the aerospace industry. Products for launch vehicles and spacecraft will account for the main part of the company’s output in 2022. These are head fairing shells, solar panel frames and thermal control panels. The company will also continue to produce elements for the Russian advanced project to create the “Eagle” manned spacecraft.
Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘HELINA’ successfully flight tested
Indigenously developed helicopter launched Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘HELINA’ was successfully flight tested on April 11, 2022 at high-altitude ranges as part of user validation trials. The flight-test was jointly conducted by the teams of scientists from Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Army and Indian Air Force (IAF).
