Trusting the trusted

As India and China are disengaging troops in the Northern Ladakh region, it is time to evaluate India’s friends who could have stood with her against China. There are not many significant global powers that have the requisite weightage to counter or control a belligerent China.

Israel successfully launched the ‘Ofek 16’ reconnaissance satellite

The Space Administration in the Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D), of the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMoD), and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), successfully launched the ‘Ofek 16’ reconnaissance satellite into space. The launch was performed from a launch site based in central Israel, using a ‘Shavit’ launcher.

DAC approves a new cruise missile, 21 MiG-29, 12 Su-30 MKI

Amidst the ongoing stand-off with China, India, on Thursday, approved weapons systems and fighter jets worth INR 38,900 (over USD 5b). The proposals were cleared by Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), apex procurement body of the Ministry of Defence, under the chairmanship of defence minister Rajnath Singh.

“Focused on indigenous design and development these approvals include acquisitions from Indian industry of Rs 31,130 crore,” government said in a statement.

Australia to spend $270 billion on defence by 2030

As the Indo-Pacific region faces an aggressive and belligerent China amidst the Covid-19 pandemic,  Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison, on Wednesday, announced strategic plan to counter the Chinese expansion in the region.

The challenges and changing nature in the Indo-Pacific have meant we need a new approach and one that actively seeks to deter actions that are against our interests,” the Prime Minister said.
