India unveils Defence Acquisition Procedure – 2020

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh today unveiled the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) – 2020 in New Delhi. The first Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) was promulgated in the year 2002 and has since been revised periodically to provide impetus to the growing domestic industry and achieve enhanced self reliance in defence manufacturing. Raksha Mantri had approved constitution of Main Review Committee under Chairmanship of DG (Acquisition) Shri Apurva Chandra in Aug 2019 for preparation of DAP-2020. DAP 2020 will be applicable with effect from 01 October 2020.

Logistic battle of Ladakh

The ongoing deployment and parleys between military commanders in Eastern Ladakh have held centre stage for five months since the Chinese occupation of disputed areas along the LAC. Despite the recent agreement not to further augment troops in the area by both sides, all indications are of a strength of approximately three divisions that have moved into the area and are likely to be there for a considerable period if not permanently.

DRDO handovera Pinaka's authority to DGQA

An important milestone was achieved today on 25 September 2020 when Authority Holding Sealed Particulars (AHSP) responsibility of Pinaka weapon system was handed over by DRDO to DGQA. AHSP transfer marks successful establishment of production of Pinaka rockets, Launchers, Battery Command Posts, Loader Cum Replenishment and Replenishment Vehicles as well as successful establishment of Quality Assurance processes.

NAVAL INVESTITURE CEREMONY– 2020

Israeli OEMs have offset discharge liability of more than $1.1 billion

SIDM, in partnership with the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), is organising a series of 'Global Outreach Webinars & Expo' in the period of 24 September – 15 November 2020 (Exhibition will extend till Dec 2020), to promote defence exports and global partnership for Indian Defence Industry.

The series will cover 15 countries in the first phase: Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Seychelles, South Africa, Thailand, UAE, UK, USA and Uzbekistan.

Successful Flight Test of ABHYAS

Successful flight test of ABHYAS - High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) was today conducted by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from the Interim Test Range, Balasore in Odisha. During the trials, two demonstrator vehicles were successfully test flown. The vehicle can be used as target for evaluation of various missile systems.
