Maiden Flight of FOC Standard LCA Tejas

The first Light Combat Aircraft in FOC standard (SP-21) took to the skies for maiden flight here today.  Piloted by Air Cmde. K.A Muthana(Retd), Chief Test Flying (Fixed Wing), the aircraft took-off from HAL Airport at around 1230 hours.  It was airborne for 40 minutes.

This flight signifies exemplary team work between various stakeholders of LCA Tejas programme such as HAL, DGAQA, CEMILAC, IAF, ADA etc., says Shri R Madhavan, CMD, HAL.

Covid-19 may delay Rafale delivery, S-400 on schedule

As the world is struggling to contain the Novel Corona (Covid-19) pandemic, it has begun to impact businesses in the defence sector too. In one such case, reportedly, India may not receive the first batch of Rafale jet fighters from France on schedule.

According to a top source, the delivery date can only be finalised once the pandemic subsides and normal work resumes in France.

DRDO and IISc co-develops explosive detection device

RaIDer-X, a new explosive detection device, was unveiled at the National Workshop on Explosive Detection (NWED-2020) in Pune today. RaIDer-X has the capability to detect explosives from a stand-off distance. The data library can be built in the system to expand its capability to detect a number of explosives in pure form as well as with the contaminants.
