Keel laid for Two Pollution Vessel at GSL

In line with the country’s Make in India commitment for sourcing equipments and systems from indigenous firms including MSMEs, Indian Cost Guard laid the keel for two Coast Guard Pollution Control Vessels, GSL Yard 1267 & 1268, on 21st November 2022 at the Goa Shipyard. The two Pollution Control Vessels are indigenously designed and developed by the Goa Shipyard, to be delivered by February 2025 and August 2025 respectively.

BEL Signs multiple MoUs

BEL signs MoU with Truecom Networks

Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has signed an MoU with Truecom Networks Private Limited for co-operation in the field of Field Wireless System (FWS). The MoU aims at leveraging the complementary strengths and capabilities of BEL and Truecom Networks Private Limited to pursue business prospects in the area of Field Wireless System.

SEA VIGIL-22 Culminates

Exercise Sea Vigil-22, the two-day Coastal Defence exercise was conducted from 15-16 Nov 22. The conceptual and geographical expanse of Sea Vigil included contingencies ranging from Peace to War-time across the entire coastline and EEZ of the country. In addition, mitigation measures, on shore, in case of any breach in Coastal Security mechanism were also validated.

MALABAR 22 Culminates

The 26th edition of the multinational maritime exercise MALABAR 22 culminated in the seas off Japan on 15 November 2022. This edition also marked the 30th anniversary of the exercise and was hosted by the JMSDF. 

The Indian Navy was represented by Eastern Fleet ships Shivalik and Kamorta led by Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet. Malabar series of exercises began in 1992 as a bilateral exercise between the navies of India and US and gained further prominence with joining of the navies of Australia and Japan.

Rear Admiral Vineet McCarty new Commander of Sword Arm

The ‘Sword Arm’ of Indian Navy, the Western Fleet, underwent a change of guard on 15 Nov 22. A ceremonial naval parade was held at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, and the baton of the Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet was handed over by Rear Admiral Sameer Saxena to the new Fleet Commander, Rear Admiral Vineet McCarty.

Rear Admiral McCarty was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 July 1989. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and National Defence College, New Delhi.
