India Approves purchase 15 LCH from HAL

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 30 March 2022 in New Delhi. The CCS has approved procurement of 15 Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Limited Series Production at the cost of Rs. 3,887 Cr along with Infrastructure sanctions worth Rs. 377 Cr.

  Light Combat Helicopter Limited Series Production (LSP) is an indigenously designed, developed and manufactured state of the art modern combat helicopter containing approx. 45% indigenous content by value which will progressively increase to more than 55% for SP Version.

Army variant MRSAM Completes Development Trials

Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) Army weapon system has once again proved its effectiveness as two missiles, during the flight tests, achieved direct hits against high speed aerial targets at Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the coast of Odisha on March 30, 2022. The launches were carried out establishing the accuracy and reliability of the weapon system against targets covering the sea skimming and high altitude functionality within the envelope.

BEL & MoD signs Contract for Electronic Warfare

The Ministry of Defence (MoD), Government of India, on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, signed two contracts worth totally Rs. 3,102 Crores with the Bengaluru and Hyderabad Units of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), at New Delhi.

The MoD and BEL-Bengaluru concluded a contract for supply of Advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) suite for fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force. The overall cost of the contract is estimated to be Rs. 1,993 Crores.

Wingbox of MC-21 aircraft made of Russian composites

Irkut Corporation (part of Rostec’s UAC) and the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) of the “Zhukovsky Institute” National Research Center have successfully completed the crucial stage of static tests for the wingbox of MC-21 aircraft made of Russian composite polymer materials. The test results showed that the actual strength properties of the product matched the calculated values. Aviation safety standards require that the wingbox has to withstand the design load during static tests.
