DRDO develops Isothermal forging, critical for aeroengine

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has established the near isothermal forging technology to produce all the five stages of high-pressure compressors (HPC) discs out of difficult-to-deform titanium alloy using its unique 2000 MT isothermal forge press. The technology has been developed by Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), a premier metallurgical laboratory of DRDO at Hyderabad.

INS Rajput Decommissioned

The Indian Navy’s first destroyer INS Rajput was decommissioned at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam after serving the nation for 41 glorious years on Friday, 21 May 21. The ship was decommissioned in a solemn and low key event due to the ongoing COVID Pandemic when the National Flag, Naval Ensign, and the Decommissioning Pennant were lowered at sunset time in the presence of Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, AVSM, VSM Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command, the Chief Guest for the ceremony.

India & Oman renew MoUs on military cooperation

 India and Oman renewed the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on military cooperation along with its annexure as well as on maritime issues on May 20, 2021. The signing ceremony of MoU on military cooperation was held at the Ministry of Defense, Muscat. The document was signed by Secretary General of Ministry of Defense, Oman Dr Mohammed bin Nasser Al Zaabi and Ambassador of India to Oman Shri Munu Mahawar.

Helli Russia 21 begins

Rosoboronexport JSC (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has invited representatives of different levels from more than 50 countries to the 14th International Helicopter Industry Exhibition (HeliRussia 2021), which will be held from 20 to 22 May 2021 at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center in Moscow.

GRSE operational profit up by 3.44 times

FY21 Compared with FY20:

●       Revenue from operation per day is Rs.4.02 Crs (for the available No. of days) in FY 21 as against Rs. 3.92 Crs per day of FY 20

●       Revenues from operations for the full year ended March 31st, 2021 stood at Rs.1141 crore

●        The Company’s EBITDA margin stood at 18% as against 15% of previous year.

●       Profit Before Tax (PBT) stood at Rs. 207 crore for FY21 ,  PBT margin of the Company  has increased to 16% as against 13% of FY 20.

DRDO conducts maiden trial of Python-5 Air to Air Missile

Tejas, India's indigenous Light Combat Aircraft, added the 5th generation Python-5 Air-to-Air Missile (AAM) in its air-to-air weapons capability on April 27, 2021. Trials were also aimed to validate enhanced capability of already integrated Derby Beyond Visual Range (BVR) AAM on Tejas. The test firing at Goa completed a series of missile trials to validate its performance under extremely challenging scenarios. Derby missile achieved direct hit on a high-speed maneuvering aerial target and the Python missiles also achieved 100% hits, thereby validating their complete capability.

Army Chief visits East Ladakh

Gen MM Naravane, Chief of Army Staff visited Siachen and Eastern Ladakh today and reviewed the operational situation in the sectors. He was accompanied by Lt Gen YK Joshi, Army Commander, Northern Command and Lt Gen PGK Menon, GOC, Fire & Fury Corps. 

Gen Naravane interacted with the troops and complimented them for their steadfastness and high morale, while being deployed in some of the harshest terrain, altitude and weather conditions. 

Project DANTAK completes 60 years in Bhutan

Project DANTAK is commemorating its Diamond Jubilee in Bhutan. Indian Ambassador to Bhutan Smt Ruchira Kamboj laid a floral wreath at the DANTAK Memorial in Simtokha on April 24, 2021. Commandant, Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT) Maj Gen Sanjeev Chauhan and Chief Engineer DANTAK Brig Kabir Kashyap also paid their respects at the memorial. It was a fitting tribute to the sacrifices made by personnel of DANTAK in strengthening the bonds of friendship between India and Bhutan.
