Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has received orders worth Rs. 2,673 Crs from Goa Shipyard Limited (Value:
Rs. 1,701 Crs) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (Value: Rs. 972 Crs) for supply of 14 types of sensors for use on Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels (NGOPV). This will have the participation of electronics and associated industries including MSMEs, which are sub-vendors of BEL. The equipment manufactured by BEL are part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ programme.

Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, AVSM, NM took over as Vice Chief of the Naval Staff on 04 Jan 24. On taking over, the Flag Officer paid homage to the Bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation by placing a floral wreath at the National War Memorial.

INS Imphal, a Project 15B stealth guided missile destroyer, was commissioned into the Indian Navy in the presence of defence minister Rajnath Singh at an impressive ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai on December 26, 2023. The event marks the formal induction of the third of four indigenous ‘Visakhapatnam’ class destroyers, being designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Mumbai.
