State-owned aerospace and defence major Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has recorded the highest ever turnover of Rs 18,28,386 lakh in 2017-18, stated the government in the Lower House on January 2. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State Dr Subhash Ramrao Bhamre gave details of revenues and profits of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) from 2015- September 2018.

The revenue from operations he stated rose from 16,758 in 2015-16 fiscal to Rs 1,8519 crore in 2017-18. It was 17,950 in 2016-17 and this fiscal till September 2018, the net revenue earned was Rs 5,424 crore. The total sales turnover in 2015-16 was Rs 16,586 crore, which went to Rs 17,604 in 2016-17 and Rs 18,284 in 2017-18. Till September this financial year, it was Rs 5,232 crore.

The Minister said the company made a profit of Rs 1,998 crore in 2015-16 which rose to Rs 2,616 crore in 2016-17 and Rs 2,070 crore in 2017-18. It has made a profit of Rs 650 crore till September this financial year, stated Bhamre.

The Minister informed that there was a 4 per cent rise in total sales turnover from 17,604 in 2016-17 to 18,284 in 2017-18.

Replying to another question on the delay in the upgradation of 61 Jaguar Display, Attack, Range and Inertial Navigation-I (DARIN-I) aircraft to DARIN-III standard, he said it is because of introduction of certain new requirements projected by IAF which required additional software design, implementation and flight trials efforts and upgradation of smart multi- function display (SMFD); and delay in supply of certain buyers furnished equipment by IAF. A suitable alternative has been identified by HAL on SMFD, he said.

The progress of Jaguar DARIN-III upgrade programme, he said is being regularly reviewed by Ministry of Defence through meetings with HAL & IAF.
